"I'm a Jesus Girl who can step on the scale and simply see an indication of how much my body weighs - not the worth of who I am!" Lysa Terkheurst

On July 9th I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery and this is my journey! I want to be clear that I DO NOT think this surgery is a quick-fix for weightloss and every possible means should be taken before even considering this path. It is VERY difficult and if I knew then what I know now, I would have done more to lose the weight on my own! Having said that, I'm thankful for my new healthier life and am accepting and taking charge of MY weightloss journey! And... ALL the glory and honour goes to GOD!

Optifast

After having two Optifast shakes today so far, all I can say is "yuck!" This is going to be a LONG 3 weeks. I now have 82 more shakes to drink before surgery (insert whining and crying here!) I have never wanted pizza so bad in my life. Actually, I would love to just be able to have an apple now or banana. But as my loving husband just reminded me in a loving way, this is what I have to endure for the years of abusing my body and not doing everything I could to take care of it!

I had the chocolate shake for breakfast, which wasn't THAT bad. It got sickening towards the end, but it was fine. I just finished a vanilla one and it's not very pleasant at all. I may have to look into some flavouring ideas from my support group members.

Well, I must go warm up some chicken broth. That's right - I'm breakin' out the big guns now!
