"I'm a Jesus Girl who can step on the scale and simply see an indication of how much my body weighs - not the worth of who I am!" Lysa Terkheurst

On July 9th I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery and this is my journey! I want to be clear that I DO NOT think this surgery is a quick-fix for weightloss and every possible means should be taken before even considering this path. It is VERY difficult and if I knew then what I know now, I would have done more to lose the weight on my own! Having said that, I'm thankful for my new healthier life and am accepting and taking charge of MY weightloss journey! And... ALL the glory and honour goes to GOD!

Thanks!

Well, one week done on Optifast! Last Sunday I thought this week would NEVER go by, and that if it did, I wouldn't live to see it! But I can honestly say it hasn't been THAT bad. Yes, I'm still hungry, but the mind games are starting to end and I'm learning more about my body and my mental state when it comes to food.

I want to dedicate this post to all those who came and spoke to me at church this morning and told me you read (and love!) my blog. I appreciate it so much. I also want to thank those of you who said you are praying for me. That means more than you know! I know it is by God's strength and grace that I will get through this whole journey. I received so much encouragement this morning - I was kind of blown away by it! Thank you again, church family. I'm grateful to God for placing you in my life for such a time as this!

On Friday night we went to church with our neighbours. It was awesome! It was just like the church you'd see on "The Preacher's Wife" or if you watched Whitney Houston's funeral, it was just like that. It was some CHURCH (I don't know how to spell Church in two syllables so just read that as such!) And man, could they SANG! The preacher spoke on the passage Phillipians 3 12-14. "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus." And in his African-american, black gospel lingo, he said "we need to remember what to forget and forget what to remember." What he was getting at is that there are so many things that happen in our past that we need to just forget about. Don't let it bring us down today. And we need to press on to the goal. Well, obviously my biggest goal in life is living a life that is pleasing to Christ. But right now I'm running a race of sorts in this weightloss battle. I can't wait to reach that finish line! And I'm going to do my best forget about all the crap that got me were I am weight-wise.

And for your curious minds, yes, I've lost some weight. I will post my weight each Sunday. So, since I've started this journey, I've lost 10 pounds on Optifast and 16 pounds in total. From this point forward, I'll just post my total weightloss. I am thrilled to have lost 16 pounds and look forward to more weight shedding off! Thanks again everyone for your support. It really means a lot and your comments on my blog, Facebook and inbox all mean a lot. It's a good way for me to remember who was encouraging me along the way!
