"I'm a Jesus Girl who can step on the scale and simply see an indication of how much my body weighs - not the worth of who I am!" Lysa Terkheurst

On July 9th I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery and this is my journey! I want to be clear that I DO NOT think this surgery is a quick-fix for weightloss and every possible means should be taken before even considering this path. It is VERY difficult and if I knew then what I know now, I would have done more to lose the weight on my own! Having said that, I'm thankful for my new healthier life and am accepting and taking charge of MY weightloss journey! And... ALL the glory and honour goes to GOD!

Noticeable

So let's change it up this week and start with a picture showing the past 2 months in this journey for me. I decided to take a picture on the 9th of every month to show the progress. Let me just explain the following picture. The first one was taken the day of surgery at 4:30AM. Yes, in the morning! We had to be at the hospital for 6am and had a 45 minute drive. So excuse the brutal expression on my face. I really was feeling excited at that moment - excited to get it all done!

The shorts I'm wearing in this picture were altered by my Mother-in-law about a month after surgery and she made them a size and a half smaller. They are already too big for me again.

It's kind of hard to tell the difference truly by still pictures (and I'm not just saying that because I want you to think I look "more skinny" in person - I've noticed with my other weightloss friends that reality shows the true change). There are things that you can't tell from looking at this picture that have changed, like being able to cross my legs, not for a long period of time or anything, but I can still do it. I can clap during worship without having to reach around my body to get my hands together. I can actually lead worship (songs in church) without running out of breath and feeling like I'm going to pass out. I can wear high heels again. There are more things too, but most importantly, I can run around with my kids, go for walks/bike-rides without the excruciating pain. And THAT'S my measurement of weightloss that counts!!!

I saw a lady at church this morning who hadn't seen me for a number of months and she said she didn't recognize me for the longest time while I was up on stage. She asked me if I did something different with my hair (which I had it straightened, so the answer was yes) and she said "you just look so different, so good!" And I told her that I had Gastric Bypass surgery in July and had lost a lot of weight and she said "yes, THAT'S it!" She was really surprised with how different I looked. Now, to anyone else who sees me every day or week, they probably wouldn't notice it. But she last saw me at my heaviest. So it was nice to hear that it is noticeable!

So ya'all are going to get bored with hearing my weekly weightloss amounts because it seems to be the same every week lately, but that's okay. I'm down 3 pounds again this week for a total loss of 64 pounds. I'm actually less than half a pound away from losing 65, but I'll hold on to that number for next week! haha It feels great to put on clothes that I had pushed into the back of the closet for years because it was too small. Many of my clothes are getting too big, but I'm not going to buy anything new for a while yet. I'll just keep getting my Mother-in-law to take my clothes in for me! It's a great problem to have!!!

Total Loss: 64lbs
